Reformed University Fellowship
Campus Pastor: Cameron Smith

Dear WPC Family:

The last time I was home to worship with you, I was working with Reformed University Fellowship (RUF), as an intern, at Erskine College in South Carolina. Since then I have gotten married, graduated from Covenant Theological Seminary in Saint Louis, MO, and had our first child, Zoe, this past December. I received my first call as a campus pastor at Carson-Newman University outside of Knoxville, TN. Carson-Newman is a private Christian university with roughly 2,000 students, and it has huge need for gospel ministry. College is a unique time for many young people. College is when they start thinking, believing, and acting independent of their family. It is an exciting and formative time for them; one we are really excited to speak into with the gospel. I am taking over the existing chapter of RUF which currently has 150 students attending our weekly worship service and small groups. We are working with two different Presbyterian churches to do our ministry there. Kaela and I are really excited to go there. We feel like a good match for the churches we are working with, the students we are ministering to, and the demographic to which we are moving. One of the biggest reasons I was hired for the position is because it is in a small, rural town which I am perfectly prepared for having grown up in Wyalusing.

College ministry is considered a missionary work. Most college students do not have the financial means or the awareness of their need for pastoral leadership. The church sees the need for them and sends out missionaries like me to provide for them that which they don't yet know they need. As a missionary I am responsible for raising all the funds necessary to do our work there, which includes a salary and ministry costs. I am heavily dependent on WPC as my church family to financially support me and God's mission at Carson-Newman. I am hoping there are a few who will be able to support me monthly, but for those who cannot but are able to give one time gifts please do. You will receive receipts for your tax-deductible gifts and can give either online at www.givetoruf.org or by sending checks to: RUF, P.O. Box 890004, Charlotte, NC 28289-0004 with my name in the memo line. One very exciting thing about supporting raising is that I will travel back to supporting churches regularly to give updates. I am very excited that coming home to WPC will be part of my job.

Sincerely,

Cam Smith
